Upgrading Urgent Sample Prioritization with indexor

When arriving at the laboratory, the samples collected have different destinations, and some have priority over others due to the test itself or the physician's request. Often, samples arrive at the lab in individual or large plastic bags and even in boxes, all mixed up - making it hard to promptly identify and dispatch urgent samples for analysis, potentially leading to delayed test results and, in worst-case scenarios, even requiring sample disposal since the sample is no longer viable. Plus, checking in all samples at the LIS further delays the identification of every priority sample.

This makes the lab technician’s job very stressful and strenuous since it needs to:

  • Divert time away from more important tasks
  • Sort all samples received
  • Manually look for the urgent ones

iRacks – Organized and no unbagging

With indexor, the samples are accommodated in racks at the collection stations, so they are already organized when arriving at the lab. Unbagging is no longer needed during sample reception.

LIS Interface – Automated Sample Check-in

Another advantage is that the only thing needed to do sample check-in is to place the racks in an indexor module. And, in less than 5 seconds, all the samples in the rack are checked in at LIS automatically.

Worklist – Automated Instant Identification

With the samples’ information at LIS, the worklist feature enables the laboratory technician to see the associated worklists, especially if there are any urgent samples – a red alert is displayed next to the respective worklist.
When you click on the alert, the corresponding tube will start to blink, which allows the laboratory technician to instantly locate and pick it up quickly.
